Howdy Crab People!! :D

Did you know I have a hermit crab website? --> alaskahermit.com/

It's main purpose is to sell delicious and nutritious wild food items for your hermit crabs that I collected around the state of Alaska. I started a garden this year, and have added a bunch of new garden-grown stuff! I also sell hideys made of birch bark, shells, and moss collected from my home in Auke Bay, Alaska. I also sell isopods (4 different species!), and the occasional piece of original hermit crab artwork by me (but my mom usually buys those).

Another purpose of my site is to have a place to promote proper care of land hermit crabs and to post articles about them under the information center tab. alaskahermit.com/information-c… But I also post most of those articles here. I have a few picture galleries on there as well. alaskahermit.com/the-gallery/

So go check it out, even if you can't/don't want to buy anything, there are plenty of other awesome things to look at on there! :boogie:

Yep. I modified it, added more pics, and other stuff. I still see a couple spelling errors, but oh well. =P

Hopefully it doesn't get stolen like my other guides. :rage:

Plagiarism

2 min read
A couple of my articles have been plagiarized word for word (some have the same pictures even!), and posted on somebody's personal website without credit. This makes me very angry and sad because I have worked hard to write my articles. If this person would have asked me first, I may have given them permission to post it if they gave credit. But they did not ask and are claiming to have written it themselves. :( Work is being done to shut the offending website down (since they stole from several other websites!), but that doesn't take away how I feel about the situation. Such unnecessary anger and sadness. Plagiarism is wrong, and this person knows it, but they keep doing it anyway. If they asked to post my articles on their website now, I would tell them ABSOLUTELY NOT. They have ruined any chance they may have had.

I won't take any of my articles down from my website (alaskahermit.com), the Hermit Crab Association, or this website since I think they do a lot of good to help people. But please, it is wrong to claim them as your own work. Ask me before you go posting my info in other places. I would be happy to work with you to spread crab care knowledge! But I do not work well with thieves. :stare:

Posting a link to any of my articles is perfectly ok. But re-posting them with or without credit, and without my permission is not ok.

This person is also on deviantart and I hope they see this journal and feel really badly about themselves and their disgusting behavior. >:C

Made this journal mostly to vent so I can get back to normal life. =P

There have been several people over the years who have asked me nicely to use my articles and photos in other places, and I was happy to help. A HUGE thanks to those people who ask before they take. :) I really appreciate it.

Howdy watchers! My husband and I created a hermit crab website! :boogie: Go here: alaskahermit.com/

Our main thing is to sell hermit crab foods from Alaska, but we also sell a few other things, have care information on there, photo galleries, etc. :) We'll be adding to it continuously, but it's officially open for business.

:iconravesplz:

If you have questions, ask away! :)

I also started a thread on the HCA in case you need references before you buy: www.hermitcrabassociation.com/…

A hermit crab's diet should revolve around one thing: variety. Add more variety to their diets by buying unique food items harvested from the great state of Alaska!

I created this account for my hermit crab pictures. They just didn't look right in my gallery next to my wildlife and landscape shots, but I still think they are decent photos and very cute subjects!

I have had hermit crabs for about three years now, and I have grown very fond of them! I started out with a tiny plastic tank and commercial food, like so many other new crab owners, but I quickly realized (thanks to the help of the hermit crab association) that I was doing everything wrong. Hermit crabs are very sensitive creature that can live 30+ years, and have very specific needs in order to thrive.

I have since upgraded from a plastic tank to a 55 gallon glass tank with two levels, two 2 liter aerated pools (one fresh and one salt), very deep sand/eco earth substrate, a 150 watt heat lamp, fresh food and minerals, and plenty of places to climb and hide. I have about 20 hermit crabs consisting of 4 different species.

If you have any questions about hermit crabs and how to care for them, don't hesitate to ask me or visit the links below! :) I even wrote up a very detailed 7-page care sheet if anybody is interested. But before asking me questions, I ask that you are at the very least, able to write and read well. I don't want ourselves to waste time. ;) And if you want my help making changes, you have to be willing to actually make those changes.
